How The World’s Best Bike Commuter Backpack Was Born
Believe it or not, the Riderbag story starts from humble beginnings: That is, our founder Gonzalo got hit by a car.
(He’s fine now, but listen to this:)
It was a typical workday like any other, followed by a typical commute home on his motorcycle.
Gonzalo closed down the shop, threw on his riding gear, tossed his laptop in his backpack, and started his ride home.
He was less than a mile from his house, pulling up to the last stop sign on his route when he heard the brakes squealing behind him...
The next thing Gonzalo knew, he was laying on the ground in front of his bike, and the motorist was walking up to survey the damage.
The first words out of the driver’s mouth were an apology, followed by “I didn’t even see you.”
As he gathered his thoughts, Gonzalo had a revelation: Both his helmet and his jacket included reflective material… but his laptop bag was all black, and must have made him nearly invisible at night.
Gonzalo had gotten lucky: The driver had already been slowing down for the stop sign.
But he knew other riders before him hadn’t been so fortunate.
Bearing that in mind, Gonzalo decided that as both a bike commuter and entrepreneur, he had a new calling:
To get his fellow riders home safe to their families by keeping them as visible as possible. It was time to design the world’s best bike commuter backpack.
Our Bike Commuter Backpack Hits The Drawing Board:
Gonzalo began analyzing his needs in a motorcycle backpack, and came up with a list of essential features:

Once the list was together, he started searching the internet for a bag that checked all his boxes, but couldn’t find a single one.
Some were too small, some weren’t reflective, some were reflective but didn’t come in hi-viz colors… The entrepreneur juices started flowing…
Gonzalo kept adding features to his list he knew riders would love: A stealth underside zipper that doubled as a backprotector pocket. A removable helmet net so riders didn’t have to carry their helmets in their hands. Zipper pulls large enough to be used with gloves.
After eighteen months of development, the RiderBag Reflector35 was ready to take its place as the best commuter backpack on the market.
